CIBO Stainless Finishing Shim Tape - Inoxitape
ex vat
Brushed or satin finishig mitred joints requires use of thin stainless steel tape. We stock Inoxitape rolls.
This tape is used to achieve professional grained finishes on stainless steel mitre joints. it is normally applied at 45 deg, usually over the sanded out TIG weld after one leg of the fabrication has been grained.
The tape protects the edge of the newly brushed area as the second leg is grained.
The tape is a very thin stainless steel, to avoid contamination, with an adhesive base. It can be cut easily with scissors to the required length.
How To Use see images and video Below
Tips & Tricks: Brush the weld seam in mitre.
Step 1: Cut the Inoxitape to required length with scissors.
Step 2: Remove the self adhesive backing and apply to the metal surface (ensure the workpiece is cooled prior to applying). Align the edge of the tape precisely where you would like the mitre joint line to appear. Press the Inoxitape firmly onto the work-piece.
Step 3: Sand lengthwise along the structure (using a tex or combi brush) up to the Stainless Steel Shim / Inoxitape. Use your wheel to brush along the tape to make sure the structure is correctly positioned along the entire cutting line. That way you can work close to the tape, without crossing the side of the finishing wheel.
Step 4: Turn the work piece and stick the Inoxitape to the other side of the mitre. Repeat the previous step on this side.
Step 5: Remove the Inoxitape to leave a perfect mitre finish on your stainless steel. Inoxitape can be re-used multiple times. To ensure optimum life ensure the stainless steel surface is cold and work at a low pressure when sanding the workpiece.
